Delicate Cottage Garden Floral Sprig. My first introduction to Astrantias was when I received a free pack of Astrantia seeds. I absolutely love them, so really enjoyed making the Astrantia in this sprig of sugar paste flowers. It got me thinking again of the lovely lady, Ulla Netzbank, under whose tutelage I learnt the foundations of making cold porcelain and sugar paste flowers. I often think about her and other students, like Janet, and how they so willingly gave me a crash course in flower making. Charming Wedding Cake - Reflecting the understated elegance of the bride and groom, a floral garland of whites and greens trail along the base and side of this single tier cake leading to a floral spray on the top of the cake. The handmade sugar flowers in the garland consisting of lisianthus, roses, lily of the valley, and eucalyptus were chosen to reflect the flowers in the boutonnière. On top of the cake and alongside the floral spray is a mirror silver acrylic initials monogram topper designed with movement in the tail of the J which wraps around the T, a nod to the bride's dance background. The cake is finished with a simple white satin ribbon at its base. Medical Studies Themed Birthday Cake Commissioned for a medical student, who loves her Norfolk Terrier (dog). The cake is in the form of a large open medical textbook, opened on page 217 (the celebrant's birth date) the page features a stencilled birthday message; the opposite page (218) headed "Anatomy" features a black outline stencil of the human heart with the inner chambers coloured red. The book is finished with a burgundy cover and a narrow pale pink ribbon, page holder between the pages. A grey and turquoise sugar paste Stethoscope rest across the pages with its chest piece sitting on the white cake board in front of the cake, To the left of the chest piece lies a pale blond sugar paste Norfolk terrier wearing its dog bone collar.
