Shelf Life

Unless advised otherwise, all of my cakes are baked a day prior to delivery and, when stored correctly, stay fresh for up to 3 days.

Storage

Remove any sugar paste flowers or figurines from your cake before storing your cake. Keep these in a cool dry place, away from direct sunlight (Moisture causes sugar models to go limp and lose their structure as sugar paste absorbs moisture, and dissolves the colour may also run).

Buttercream coated cakes - If not consuming your cake immediately, carefully wrap your cake box with clingfilm and store your cake in the fridge to keep the buttercream stable and fresh.

Remove the acetate or Clingfilm whilst the cake is still chilled. Allow your cake to return to room temperature before eating (depending on the temperature of your room this could take up to 3 - 4 hours). When the buttercream has softened and has a whipped cream like appearance, it is ready to eat.

Fondant Icing covered cakes - Should not be stored in the fridge but in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. When storing overnight, carefully wrap the cake box with clingfilm. (Storage in a fridge for any more than 20 minutes will cause condensation to form on the surface of the cake and may compromise the finish of the cake). However, to firm up the cake filling and make it easier to cut the cake, you can place the cake in the fridge for no more than 15 - 20 mins before cutting.

Transporting Cakes

Keep cakes secure, away from direct sunlight, on a flat level surface (not the car seat). Please do not stack your cake boxes or place anything on top of your cake box or squash the sides of your cake box.
